THIS NOVEMBER, JULIUS CAESAR

Join Dr. Walker in historic downtown Las Vegas for The Shakespeare Book Club, a discussion group that studies the plays of the Bard-of-Avon, including his comedies, tragedies, histories, and romances. All are welcome to attend, regardless of familiarity with Shakespeare’s works.

What makes for too much power? Brutus ruminates on this question, while Cassius schemes and Caesar promotes his own god-like status. In Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, the political and the personal collide. The casualties of political intrigues extend to wives, the common folk, and perhaps the state of Rome itself. History, Shakespeare shows, is a bloody clash of ideals.

We will also read the chapter on Julius Caesar from Oxford scholar Emma Smith's recent book This is Shakespeare.

This club meets in person at The Writer's Block. Click here to learn more, buy books, and receive a reminder email several days before the event.
